Wheat Harvest 2012

Harvest time came a lot earlier this year than usual.  Like Memorial Day weekend early!  My dad said never in his life have they harvested that early.  Usually it's sometime mid-late June.  He ended up needing some extra help, so since Chad had some experience helping with harvest (from way back in our early dating years 2000-2001ish!!) he spent most of Memorial Day in the field.  So of course the boys didn't want to miss out!  They got tractor rides, combine rides, and even a trip or two in the wheat truck with Daddy to the grain elevator.  And to top it all off they got to play with their cousins!  It was a beautiful day and lots of fun!

Owie

This is a little delayed, but Tuesday night was Luke's first T-ball game.  As you may notice, these are not pictures of Luke.  During the game, Adam fell and hit his face on the metal part of the bleachers.  I was on the field with Luke, so didn't find out a thing, but Chad said there was a LOT of blood.  But only about 20 seconds of crying.  Adam's a little too tough, if you ask me.  He is WAY more dare-devil than Luke ever was, and just days before this happened, I said to someone that I thought Adam was going to be our little ER baby.  He wouldn't want to prove his mama wrong, ya know!  We decided to check with Nurse Grandma first before heading to the ER, and she thought steri-strips could hold his cut together better than stitches so we went with it.  Should be a lovely scar, though!

God was in my Kitchen

So this morning Luke slept in.  Like past 10:00.  This is unheard of around here.  Just when I was ready to go in and check his pulse, he bursts out of his room and says:
Luke: But...where is God?!  (looking around)
Me: What?
Luke: Where is God?  He was just here!
Me: What?!  Was He talking to you?
Luke:  No.
Me: Who was he talking to?
Luke: Well, he was just talking to people.
Me:  What people?  Was he talking to mommy and daddy?  (Thinking maybe this could be a dream??)
Luke: No, he was just talking to people.
Me:  Where was He?
Luke: He was in the kitchen, but I didn’t show him my room.
Me: Why not?
Luke:  Well, because I wasn’t talking to him.  He was talking to the people.  But Jesus wasn't there.  Just God.  Where was Jesus?
Me: Hmmm.  What did God look like?
Luke: He looks like a daddy.
Me:  You mean he looks like Daddy?
Luke: No mommy.  He looks like a daddy.
[Mommy has goosebumps]
I kept asking him what God was saying to the "people", but he would just say "words".  I'm not sure what to make of this...he was so serious telling me all about it.  Wowza!
"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.  I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it."  Mark 10:14-15

A Few Words...

...About motherhood
I'm a mom.  Things happen when you're a mom.  Such as:
1) Going a whole day wearing two different earrings in public but not realizing it until evening.
2)  Wearing ugly dirty "house only" flip flops to a work meeting (I was playing outside with the boys before I left and forgot to switch shoes.  oops)
3)  losing [one] shoe...Adam is kind of obsessed with shoes and likes to carry them around the house.  I've been missing a shoe for over a month now.  Since I've looked everywhere possible, I'm pretty sure it must have made its way to the trash.  *sigh*
Being a mother is certainly not an easy job.  But it's also a job I would never want to quit doing.
Happy [Belated] Mother's Day!

A Good Reminder...

Sometimes you just need to stop and smell the roses, ya know?

Twinkies

Oh, man. I couldn't have done this if I tried...as I was downloading pictures I took this weekend, I saw a picture that triggered the memory of another picture I have seen. It turns out my boys have things in common. They love sticks. The first picture is Luke at 13 months old at his Eigsti grandparents' house. The second picture is Adam at 13 months at his Nisly grandparents' house. Both pictures were taken after a Sunday lunch. Weird? I think so.

Tasty Party

Last weekend we took a quick trip to Omaha and visited family. It also happened to be our niece Kayla's 7th birthday and we got to tag along to her cool party. Ethan and Luke joined a room full of girls at a little bakery place where they all got to decorate cakes. So cute! We had a great weekend with them, enjoyed perfect weather, and the girls even got to do a little shopping sans kids. A perfect weekend!
Step one: decorating one's chef's hat.
Ta da! A Chef!
There may have been some tasting of the frosting now and then.
Serious concentration and team effort.
The boys proudly posing with their masterpiece.

Birthday Bash

As promised, here are some pictures from the boys' birthday party. The boys had so much fun and Luke is still talking about it.
The boys anxiously waiting for everyone to arrive.
The birthday cakes, made with love.

This picture caught almost everyone that was there.
The boys checking out Luke's new Leapster.
I think this picture is so sweet. Adam is playing ball with Great Grandma and Grandpa Eigsti.
As you can see, the boys were pretty much partied out by the time we took this picture.
Their new slide [the next day]. Can't wait to play with this outside this summer!

What?!

Ok, just a little concerned here. Last night I made a Target run with NO children. So because I was feeling footloose and fancy free, I detoured from my boring list of diapers and lotion and found myself wandering through the aisle of hair accessories. And then I saw it. ::GASP:: Could it be? Seriously? SCRUNCHIES??? They're back? Why? Who let this happen? I thought it was agreed by all that these are ugly? Yes, I myself did wear them at one point in my life, but did not expect to (read: hoped not to) see their return. Must we bring everything from the 80's/90's back? I must be old because I don't get it.
